I admit that I have read a lot of bad fan fiction, but a lot of it has been good. I will never forget one Star Wars fan fiction piece that I read...
...It had Luke, Leia and Han all in bed together, having sex.
If you know the Star Wars storyline, you'll know why that is SO gross. It's like...double incest with an add on of two men having sex together.
My only other really bad experience with fan fiction has been with someone who...was actually a member of the old message board before we moved to this host. >.> But I'll tell the story any way because I doubt she'll actually find us here.
She managed to follow me pretty much everywhere- my MSN groups, fanfiction.net, fictionpress.com, theforce.net...Livejournal...and I had written this ONE Harry Potter fan fiction, which was an AU where Sirius Black was alive and it was called Return of the Order of the Phoenix, so it was written sometime after Order of the Phoenix came out and we didn't know a lot of the information we do now. My story had Harry and Hermione together, they had a son named Sirius, and...I think the only other differences were the title, the lack of grammar/spelling mistakes in mine, and the fact that my chapters were longer. So I posted it on fanfiction.net and had written a grand total of two chapters.
Not long after, this girl that's like...a few years younger than me, maybe 13 or so at the time, comes and reviews the story, like she had been doing for a while. Okay, cool. But then she puts up a story of her own. Harry Potter, similar title, and pretty much a rip off of the fan fic that I had posted. So I called her out through email asking her to take it down and she said she would but she never did. And she followed me on to Livejournal, wanted to become a graphic maker at my old shared graphics community (I said no because her icons SUCK), and wanted to add me as a friend but I ignored the request and she's probably forgotten about it by now. I just...ugh. I mean, it's kind of flattering in a -tiny- way that she ripped off my fan fic, but it's also kind of creepy at the same time.

It's more like she thought you had brilliant ideas that should have been her's. It's also slightly stalkerish...
You should have e-mail bombed her until she took it down. There are programs that do that. It could have read, "Take it down, Biz-natch, or I'm gonna ruin you!" or something equally threatening, while being equally vague.
AWritersFantasy- 08-17-2007
Probably. Either that, or she was amazed by my writing ability or...I don't know. o.O My writing has definitely improved since that point in time.
Eh, I wouldn't have known that when this happened, and I don't think I would've used that method to get her attention. I'd say this was maybe...well, something like four years ago...depending on when I posted my Harry Potter fan fic, so I don't think I really would've known that such a program exists. I don't remember whether or not I took it off of fanfiction.net.

Just out of curiosity, was that person that was being a troll the same girl? I hope not, because I wouldn't want anyone super annoying to enter this. Especially not if they bug the number one Mod.
AWritersFantasy- 08-19-2007
The one who made that "writer" thread in the introduction section? I highly doubt it. The grammar in their posts was far too good for it to be her, and I doubt she'd really know how to troll a message board. Also, she stopped posting on the old board maybe four weeks (probably even longer) before we moved to this host and I made no effort in telling her that we moved here. I don't think it's her style to try and troll a board of mine when she slightly stalks me all ready.
Plus, I pretty much know that the person who made the "writer" thread is someone from the support board of this board host who was basically just being a jerk and chose my board specifically to troll.

Just wondering.
Writing drama is SO much more interesting than my life. And people think that writers have no drama, haha.
Don't you just pity trolls, that they have nothing better to do than bother other people?
AWritersFantasy- 08-20-2007
Ha. If only it were true that writers didn't have any drama...I had to deal with some on a different board today. XD I introduced myself and someone asked if I'm fat. And then said I was rude when I responded (because they said I was probably female). I had given my name all ready in my intro post and I responded with "...considering Danielle is usually a female name, I am, in fact a female," and they responded with "a rude female, too" or something. o____o The mod at least stepped in, though, and apologized for the person's behavior. And, that person is supposedly 16.
Shadow729- 08-20-2007
What the hell kind of retard question is that
"Hello, I'm So-and-So, I hope we'll be doing lots of interesting writing together. Oh, and, by the way, are you fat perchance? If you respond to this with righteous hostility, your rude, as I'm 16 and my online friends tell me my upfront nature is quite charming."
Once again, that deserve e-mail bombing or some sort of bitch-slap delivered via internet.
Just a weird question, but, does e-mail bombing make you think of some sort of nerdy version of fire bombing? Maybe I'm the only one...
AWritersFantasy- 08-20-2007
Actually, they originally said "Hello Danny?
Ask a select few. I adore the name Danny.
Are you fat?" o____o
Luckily I still have some screencaps from it.

I completely forget what my vote was....
But anyway, I think adding fanfiction would up the member base. You'd be able to advertise to a large group and get more members.
AWritersFantasy- 08-20-2007
It would, but it would mean having to deal with a lot of whiny know-it-all wanna be writers that think that their fan fiction is SOOOO GUD, and deal with their lack of proper grammar. >.>

Oy, that would be annoying, wouldn't it? ^^'
You could always enforce the "Write with grammar or die" policy. :-P
I tend to avoid Fanfics all together... I've written a few, but never for anything that actually exists. (Yeah, I know how odd that sounds.) But me, read facfiction? I've never done it.
AWritersFantasy- 08-20-2007
As I've said in earlier posts, I used to write fan fiction, but I've grown out of it. One reason for not adding the fan fiction section at this time is that we currently have more people who would probably read fan fiction rather than write it, so I'm not certain that it'd really be a good idea to add a section for it at the moment. It would help as far as getting more members goes, but I'm not certain that it would be the best, considering that the works posted here have been original pieces rather than fan based.
